"Stolen Cars", rainy days, and towing
In the midst of a pretty interesting week, i had to of course endure the agony of thinking my car was stolen. All of this happened last Thursday, to be exact.
Basically a rainy day forces me to forgo my plan to take the bus to the train station, and i take the car. Between 7:40 and 7:50 A.M. i look frantically for a parking spot by the train station, find one but do not pay attention "really" to where i park it.
After a long day of work, picking up my first "business cards" and a recommendation letter from Fred Hudson, I venture back to Queens. At approximately 7:40 P.M., i return to the area where I parked the car is gone (!). I walk around for a good 30 minutes, becoming increasingly annoyed until I finally forfeit and go home.
Later on with my father in tow, we end up at the precinct closest to the "scene", and then are forced to go to the "scene" call the police from there and file a report. But as this is going on I get the gnawing feeling that I may have parked in front of the driveway of a house. However, since the police officer's search through their computer yielded no results I figured I wasn't towed.
Bingo! I was towed! When I got home I get a call stating, my car was not put into the computer, but that it was towed at 2:30 p.m. today. Fun times were had by all… and $108.25 plus a 35 ticket later I was driving it out the towing company's lot Friday morning.
