My African Violets are dying

I bought them a few weeks ago and don't understand what i am doing wrong. New omes were blooming and others were already in full bloom. And now the later are bent.

Can someone please tell me what i am doing wrong:

1. Water, but not everyday
2. Keep by the window, although not a lot of rays come through

Someone please email more or comment
thanks!

Cheesecake factory gyeah

Yesterday evening, to celebrate my Grandma's Bornday, me, my parents, younger goddaughter, my Aunt and of course the birthday girl, trekked to the only Cheesecake Factory in NY.

And seems there are like only solo locations in each state, besides Georgia and the like.

Yesterday i ventured out into the heart of Harlem after having a really bitter day at work -- ready to snap at almost everyone. There i sought after what Fred Hudson had told me about -- a nonprofit venture called Harlem Live; not to be confused with this at all.

And needles to say i was impressed by what i saw at this struggling enterprise. Inner city teens workign hard in a loft across from the HMV on 125th street

Peopel acting liek they in love (maybe some are) when it's all the lust and the heat causing a chain reaction

Song Lyric on My mind

After hearing India perform this, i was like ahh...

"Nature"

I know
Oh, Oh Yeah

[Verse]
Hey baby
Why you rushing
Let's sit back and watch the flowers grow
Why you want
To swim against the tide
Let's lay and watch the river flow

Here in god's creation
There is always a reason
I know, that love is there for us
Yeah

[Chorus]
Where we'll go, baby I don't know
Maybe we should just let nature run the show
Where we'll go, baby I don't know
Maybe we should just let nature run the show

[Verse]
I don't wanna watch no movie
Let's sit and watch the stars put on a show
If you want to win my favor
Be creative, and show me your flavor
Cause here in god's creation
For everything there is a session
Let go Let life
Let love let god

[Chorus]
Where we'll go, baby I don't know
Maybe we should just let nature run the show
Where we'll go, baby I don't know
Maybe we should just let nature run the show

[Bridge]
Like the sun shines and
The wind blows
Like the birds fly
And the moon glows
If I am meant for you and
You are meant for me
Then we will flow together
Everlastly

[Chorus x2]
Where we'll go, baby I don't know
Maybe we should just let nature run the show
Where we'll go, baby I don't know
Maybe we should just let nature run the show

Out
Baby we should sit, watch the flowers grow
Baby we should sit, back and watch the moon glow
Baby, we should feel the wind blow

First you plant a seed
And then it grows and
Then it blooms
And it dies
That the cycle of life
Same goo's for you and I
Maybe this time we'll get it right

Go with the flow
Maybe we'll get it right..

Free India Arie in the City

For a free event in Manhattan, a few hours ago, i: got yelled at by folks for not taking off my shoes while i stepped through their damn blankets (shoot u bohos what do u expect this ain't ur homes), found out that the show would begin at 9:15 instead of 7:30 and waited from 5:30 until then with my cousin, my boy, his sister and her friend.

Yet all in all, i developed a newfound respect for India who made even her most musically unintereting songs sound fresh & new. And her new album, from what i heard, may surpass her overrated debut.

Birthday weekend

Yesterday was an atypical way of spending my 26th Bornday. It illicited reactions of confusion from a child hood friend and my mother, who felt i was being antisocial.

To illustrate, last year i began my twists, much to many family members' chagrin; had some "extracurricular activities"; and held a shindig with many of my friends and associates at a lounge. Yet this year, i decided to spend time with myself. I rented out a darkroom for 4 hours to print some black and whites and now i am amped to start printing again-- color even.

The second half of the day was spent by the river that seperates Queens and Manhattan/Bronx off the Triboro Bridge. I walked around the park parallel to the artficial shore line and just people watching, and reading my new Danticat book.

From Yellow Rat Bastard

Jean Grae has finally given me a reason to purchase a new hip hop album. Sure a title like Attack of the Attacking Things is a bit much but heck it made me chuckle a little. But unlike most artists' debuts -- major or indie --, Grae's album is short and has no real guest spots unless u count Apani's skit contributions. And of course she skips around from battle rhymes to introspective themes. However, she does not delve into more conceptual territory as she did on her Columbine-like narrative, "Taco Day" from Mr. Len's Pity the Foolalbum.

My Bornday is this Sunday and here i am listening to Jazzanova's collaboration with Vikter Duplaix, "Wasted Time." Which i put on a compilation of Vikter Duplaix tracks i have collected. and ironically Duplaix has another song called "Patience" that he did with Scuba (aka King Britt) that is also on my mix CD. Maybe it's a sign of the things i have been aspiring for -- to be more patient about everything including my lovelife, and the not waste time.

today i spent time most of the day doing yard work at my Aunt's home in Valley Stream with my pops.

Her granddaughter, my two-year-old goddaughter, alternated between being the little helper to being her crocidle tears, spolied alter ego.

But twas a good day of much needed exercise on my part. The rest of the weekend was filled with nothing days, a solo viewing of the disappointing Austin Powers 3 and the so-so Martin Lawrenece attempt at regaining his credibility, Runteldat.
