So yeah yesterday at my afterschool gig i was gieven a digital camera to take home and test. It's for the Photography club i run on Fridays, which was a complete train wreck last session. Only some of the kids in the club seem really interested, while one "special" kid was what i would call a Demon seed. Anyhow i got some okay pics out of the 2.2 megapixel kodak.

(Oh yeah i got to see MC Lyte perform at a event for this photographer's book last night)

Here they are:

Yes! I'm not sure if this will be a good thing but hey...
From Reuters:
Younger MacGyver Reinvented at the WB
Thu Oct 17, 5:28 AM ET

By Michael Schneider

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) - The man who can short-circuit a nuclear missile with a paper clip and stop an acid leak with a candy bar is back -- but this time in the guise of "Young MacGyver."

The WB has made a production commitment with producer Paramount Network Television to pick up a new version of the action drama "MacGyver." But the new version of the series will focus on MacGyver's nephew. The original series starred Richard Dean Anderson (news) and ran from Sept. 1985 to Aug. 1992.

"Young MacGyver" will follow the twentysomething hero as he leaves school and winds up joining the Phoenix Foundation -- the good-guy organization his uncle belonged to -- on a lark. Once there, he discovers that he's incredibly adept at stepping into Uncle MacGyver's shoes.

"Our MacGyver will be a little more irreverent than the original," said Carolyn Bernstein, senior VP of drama development at the WB. "It will have a lot in terms of the same elements of the original series, but with a brand-new cast of characters and updated for present day,"

WB and Paramount plan to start casting for the new "Young MacGyver" shortly. It is targeted for a 2003 bow.

The original "MacGyver" was the last show to pop a solid number for ABC in the pre-"Monday Night Football" time slot. Indeed, Paramount first approached ABC about the "Young MacGyver" project, but the network passed.

"Young MacGyver" comes on the heels of another franchise that the WB reinvented with a young slant -- the teenage Superman of "Smallville."

"We would never look a gift horse in the mouth, if given a familiar, adored franchise that came our way and we could age down to make it appealing to our audience," Bernstein said.

Roller Skating, Grand Marnier, and that nasty fast food

First i must say Grand Marnier is my new drink. I went to a short films screening two weeks ago and they were serving free drinks, specifically cosmos and Tropical Dreams, with this old school liquor in it. Thanks Jas.

However. last night was a nastolgic time for me as i donned roller skates once again for a night at the ROXY. It was my loc dresser/friend's birthday and for $15 plus $5 dollars i got to relive childhood memories with a pretty nice soundtrack.

Oh yes, i wil never eat Church's/White Castle at 1 am in the morning again. I keep burping what i ate from last night.

Busy social life... I think i'm in that cycle again.
It's always the same. Weeks of quiet down time. Then weeks of outings, parties, and spontanoues hanging out.

Basically, between working with my kids, my temp job, my social life, and other promises -- to myself and others -- i'm feeling pooped.

However next week, my friend who does my hair is having birthday/moving out of Brooklyn event. So i expect to be pooped some more. Au revoir!

Last night I went to the Remote
Lounge
with a friend for the first time. For those who don't know what that is,
Remote Lounge is an experimental lounge/bar with cameras littered throughout.
And I felt like a big
kid
in this voyeuristic romper room.

As I looked
at the console we
sat at, I began learning how to use the different controls, like the camera joystick that moved our and any of the other cameras we switched to; and buttons that allowed us to send a message to
someone at another console.

In regards to the message thing, every console had a phone that u could choose to pick up or not after someone buzzed u. My second attempt at speaking
to a girl was a bit more fruitful. The first girl was three with her bf. The girl
was very cute
even as I looked at her
pick up the phone
on the fuzzy screen. And after straining to speak to each other on the phone over the music
she thought it better that I
come over
.

Meanwhile, My friend
was being harassed
and desperately tried to call me. I guess she was in
horror
and basically told the dude I was "with" her to get rid
of him. Anyhow, me and the girl chatted and I guess from these pictures -- here
and here
-- it would seem it was getting somewhere. Shortly thereafter, after watching my friend zone out on the girl's screen, i figured it must be time to go and i bid the girl farewell and give her one of my lovely "personal" cards. Hopefully, i will hear from her.
