Jo

Da Brat

the hollow-days are here, but once again it's blah over here. maybe it's the only child in me. It's always been my parents, grams and I on Christmas and new years with occasionally visits by me to relatives. Otherwise it's ho hum.

This year however, I got invited to two new year's shindigs in Brooklyn. Do I really feel like trekking to BK that night? I don't know. But it would be a nice change from going to a long drawn out church service that goes past midnight.

But I have to say I do have friends who actually act like they care and they have called or e-mailed me. I think people seem to treat some friendships as a half-assed deal. At least some of my "friends" act that way. So there have been many people I haven't spoken to in a long time. *sigh*

All Hail Michel Gondry

I hope to have the balls and imagination to create what he creates and jump off that building and not care where I land.

From the 52 page booklet accompanying his DVD:

"If you never try something new, you never fail. You have to take a chance."

and his ten principles learned from different folks in his life LOL:

His mother: We don't fall from earth because we are attracted to it.

His father: You're gonna be alright.

Mr. Lefoll (school teacher): An infinite straight line goes on forever.

A friend of his parents: Draw from real life, not from a picture.

Physics teacher: When you do a demonstration, don't use the word "because" but "so" instead. In other words, don't start with the consequences to find the cause, but start from the cause to find the consequence.

French teacher: Your life is as interesting as any celebrity's life on TV. Tell me about it.

Guy Boucart: Even if it's just a fly, it's alive. Don't play with it.

Jean-Louis Bompoint: You have to finish your project

Bjork: Follow your instinct

Julie Fong: You are much stronger than what you think.

Georges Bermann: Don't ask the question if you expect a negative answer.

His brother Twist: You can't be in love with your girlfriend everyday. It comes and goes and it's normal. But it always comes back. In general.

writtten under the influnce of John Mayer's "No Such Thing" and Cibo Matto's "Moonchild"

yum yum. Photo not by me

For once i retained memories of a disturbing dream i had last night.
Maybe it's suconcious fears of another terrorist attack through unconcvential means.
What i remember is being out in teh street on Jamaica ave in Queens, NY, A popular shopping strip; and watching as 747 planes freeze in mid air. One landed in the middle of the street where i was standing. Then all at once, the exploded but instead of the pices of the planes flying every which way, they imploded.

And explains why i was still alive after the plane near me burst. But it disturbed me a little after i woke up, much like my dream that the whole idea of being "left behind" actually happened.

© Intimate, Nudes by Marc Baptiste,
Universe Publishing (an imprint of Rizzoli New York) 2003

uncertainty, insecurities

Baptiste had a big gala for his book
last nigth at some themed-spot called Show

Since model kim porter graces the cover of the new book and she hosted the party, sean Combs showed up later on, officially making this party's VIP areas a necessity i suppose.

Me i was like ehh with this networkign business. So i hung around people i met at the previous party and the Baptiste circle that i am cool with.

And with all the nice looking eye candy of all colors, i relaize i still have no balls or cojones to approach any of them.

These were from some art festival in DUMBO area of Brooklyn. A haven for all these "artists"

I have collected so many many photos for this long term portfolio project, but haven't printed nada except for the former pregnant girl who has a three week old baby girl now. But she and the father gave me money so I suppose that's why they got printed. But alas I ma this close to finish al the writing I need to apply for grad schools.

I despise this process very much so.
