eff it, it's depressing

it's great to hear folks under 25-- black folks-- doing their thing and having ish together. traveled abroad and what not. but it depreses me at 28 to have not done any of those things. it sucks bullocks. and i'm still tryign to figure out how to travel without taking out another loan. nor do i wannna hear another line about there are plenty of grants out there. i aint an academic nor do i know what to look for. aside from my trips to the foundation center and my colleges departments, i don't know what to do besides apply for these direct loans.

Now Now no whining bout the more fortunate under 25. Take every extra dime you have from now til May and you will have scraped enough to go on a low budget trip to europe.Sh*t all the travel I've done was with then money I woulda used on fits and such. All it takes is heart to get up and bounce. I know a grrrl that sold everything she had with exclusion to centimentals to get to Africa. She came back saved loot and not lives the most of the year. Its all bout what you really want. And when your want something with all your heart the whole universe conspires to make it happen.

Where you tryin to go? I am under 25 and rarely in one country. It's not that I have got all this money or anything, it's just a matter or prioirities and discipline. Also, please realize that if you don't do the touristy thing when you get on foreign soil and instead opt to hang out with the locals and/or where the locals are (which will give you a better feel for where you are visiting anyway), you will come out cheaper, because staying in a tourist area in a big tourist hotel is going to cost you like 200% more money. HTH.

hmmm... i'll tell you Rich, the only thing i can think of thats worse than being 28 and not having done those things would be to be 31, about to be 32, and not having done of those things. its a drag huh?

but like you said, how does one even begin to go about getting money for those worldy trips? it just can't be as easy as baring down, saving money, and then being out, can it? hell, what do u do when there's no money to save?

stay easy

Dude, I work at the Foundation Center. But anyway not to be an annoying under 25 academic you can go abroad really cheaply. Always look on the bright side of life. Man especially from New York...Plan a trip for Spring or Summer right now and work out the details later. If not now, then when.

On another note, I travelled a lot as a young youth but there is a lot of other ish I havent done that sometimes irks me...

oh yeah and lay of your gammy
