no Rest for the Weary

A little girl left her mark at the BAM African Street Festival Saturday

I hope after today I will be done with the United Way job. it was a long Memorial Day Weekend with very little sleep and lots of money spent since last week because of my car getting stuck by my school and having it towed to a garage to get the alternator replaced, which had been draining my battery and not recharging it. Run-ons are ugly.

Friday I took pictures in Jackson Heights, but It wasn’t as fruitful as my shoot in Williamsburg. Saturday I fared better but was really tired. I trotted on and spent most of the day around Fort Greene and stumbled upon a lot of people and then realized the African street festival was going on by BAM.

Sunday was more Lost Man work in the BX setting up shots with the actors who will fight to the death in the final scene. And my friend had a party for his completion seven years of work on a PHD that night.

Memorial day was spent helping my aunt put up these small fixtures to her new chandelier, which is very impractical. It’s like putting up hundreds of little key chains. Then it was more time spent with my college heads mall hoping in Long Island and no driving by me yay!

Photoshoot Williamsburg and Greenpoint

Saturday i finally got to work on the job for United Way and headed out to Greenpoint to get my friend Vette and then walked through Willamsburg. i had ot capture the diversity of hese neighborhoods while trying to get people to sign off on these model release forms. Thankfuly, it was sunny by the time we started walking.

I didn't realize how diverse it was til we walked down bedford past the gentrified strip and into the other parts. The Hasici Jewsih kids who were kept behind bared balconies, and the dominicans who have been living there for decades.

i do like doing things like this but it's a lot of pressure and rejection when trying ot shoot people who don't know you.

this is great blog man---just checking in. I once rolled into FAO with a group of "inner city" (hate this term) kids (including my two little brothers): MISTAKE! You'd be surprised how sharp little black kids can be about the insanity of corporate capitalism (my favorite line from my 10 year little brother was "why the hell do these make it so obvious that they're trying to SELL YOU something?"

my brain is scrambled

i kinda of feel like this and she will kill me if she knows i put this up (happy bornday)

and i'd like this semester to end like now. i came in today thinking i had my adjunct teaching interview today but it's next week so i wore a suit for nothing. :(

and i need to play catch with this freelance gig i regret taking with teh facilities department on campus. two months already and when they finally give me what i need to work on their website i'm too swamped to work on it. but i want the money and want to see the paperwork for it.

but i ma blessed that United Way offerred me a photography gig shooting neighborhoods in NYC for the new brochures. So this should be cool a day of shooting with my 300D should suffice for what they want to pay me which is not to be scoffed at.

teaching/ Fresh produce and my Canon 300D

Noñameko at Fresh Produce 2 last Thursday

Standing in a B-stance

So i taught for the first time this morning in Luisi's class under, of course, his specifications -- a Timothy Steele peom called Decisions, Decisions. i didn't sweat nor shake much. and teh class was perceptive, but of course they've alreayd been put through the ringer with luisi so i gues it's alwayys a motivating factor to have someoen else teach you. i even wore a dress jacket with a button shirt and jeans and shoes. i was looking artist.

Someone called my ring light flash the sun as you can se from above and in this link that the resuts with my digital SLR were pretty mice.
